Glass Lovers Weekend Sampler for Beginners
Hands-on introduction to various types of glass making for the beginning individual who is curious to learn the processes and techniques involved in blowing and forming the honey-like substance of molten glass. Beginning students, under the close guidance of GlassWorks faculty, will learn to work with solid glass forms, create blown designs, learn the use of optic molds, and decorative wraps. Students will also experiment with colored glass rods over an open torch, forming the glass into sculptural roundels & aquatic shapes, known as Scientific Glass Torch Working (a process that could be continued at any home studio). Finalizing the two-day "introduction to glass" sampler, each student will have created a collection of unique hand-blown and sculpted designs fabricated in glass as very special mementos from this exciting, educational, beginners workshop. Scheduled monthly, October - May. Limited to 9 students.
