Walk-in Quick Courses (With Previous Arrangement)

Make a Unique Blown Glass Sclupture

In this hands-on course, students learn to shape and blow glass into a reflective, colorful optic holiday ornament or sun catcher to add to your collection. Can be scheduled individually or with a friend. Sculpted glass MUST properly cool, or anneal, after they are made and before they can be picked up or shipped to your address. Please allow 2 - 3 days for cooling and polishing. (Available Sept - May)

Glass Lampworked Pendant

Students will receive instruction in glass torch working, or working with glass over an open, table-top torch with colorful glass rods, or cane. Ideal for the beginner interested in an at-home studio set-up. Each visitor will create a number of glass beads which will be assembled and transformed to a distinctive glass pendant. Glass creations must cool properly, or anneal; beads and pendants must be picked up or shipped at a later date. Information to continue at home will be supplied at completion.

Glass Handcastings

As featured recently on NBC's Today Show: Create a personal cast glass relief sculpture of your hand! Unique keepsakes for parents and grandparents, as well as for friend's birthdays and holiday gifts. Participants carefully press their hands into the sand and clay mixture to form a mold, which are then "carbonized" with a glowing torch, which prepares and solidifies the mold for the honey-like molten glass that will be ladled into your hand mold. Honey-like, molten glass from the furnace is ladled it into each mold. Please note that the annealing, or cooling, process generally takes at least 72 hours, glass hand castings cannot be removed and cleaned until they are completely cooled down to room temperature. (Available mid- Sept - May)

Italian - Style Marbled Paper Card Creations or Photo Mat & Frame

As seen recently on NBC'S TODAY SHOW, featuring this technique, at the New Orleans GlassWork & Printmaking Studio! Perfect for the beginner who would like to learn an easy approach to printmaking that can be transformed to a home or school studio. Students will create an array of unique marbled creations on handmade, archival paper that will be ready to take home upon completion. You do not have to be artistic to create beautiful works of art! Information to continue at home will be supplied at completion of course. Maximum of 6 students.
